We had an amazing time at this year’s Foothills Young Author’s Conference, held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Ecole Secondaire Highwood High School!

About the Conference

Presented by Foothills School Division and Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools, this exciting, full day event provides students in grades 4 to 9 with the opportunity to attend three workshops of their choice with writers, illustrators, graphic novelists, cartoonists and other presenters.  The day kicks off with an inspiring keynote speaker and concludes with the opportunity for students to shop in the Conference Book Store and obtain autographs from their favourite presenters.

Volunteer representatives at participating schools work to identify and select interested students.  This year, we hosted almost  500 students from schools within FSD, Christ the Redeemer and Ecole Beausoleil — our largest group ever!

The event was founded by Foothills School Division 24 years ago and received charitable society status in 2007.  The Young Authors’ Conference Society is fortunate to receive support from many generous community organizations and businesses, making it possible for us to offer this opportunity to youth in our schools  at a modest cost.

Thank you to our generous 2013 sponsors!
