The BEST (Behaviour Education Support Team) Program is designed to meet the emotional, social, behavioural and academic needs of students when school-based intervention fails to succeed.
Through BEST, students gain the skills to resolve conflict, communicate needs, make choices and further their development in a congregated setting. The goal is to see the students transition to their neighbourhood school.

Whenever possible, Learning Support is offered to students with severe* disabilities in their neighbourhood school. However, in cases where learning needs of students cannot be suitably met in their home school, alternative placement will be considered in a school which provides Diversity Programming.
Probable program components include: modified academics, modified arts, physical education and music, speech and language development, communication, socialization and related skills, self-help and life skills, physical therapy, occupational therapy, strategies for self-control and behavioural interventions, community exposure and work experience.
Placement decisions are made by Foothills School Division's Learning Services Department based upon recommendations from a team which may include parents, administration, Learning Services personnel, Counselors and Regional Learning Support Teachers.
