Counselling Resources

CounsellingThe Family School Liaison Counselor (FSLC) Program offers support for families and students in Kindergarten through Grade 9 who may be experiencing problems at home or at school. Liaison Counselors offer education and counseling to children, youth and parents to help them positively manage challenging issues and events.

As a member of school-based teams, these counselors help design and implement individual and group plans focused on enhancing the social, emotional, behavioural and scholastic well-being of students and their families.

The Youth Development Counselor (YDC) assists in the design and implementation of coordinated behavior management programs. As members of the school-based team, Youth Development Counselors assist in the design and implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPP) and group programs focusing on behavioral change, self-concept improvement, social skills development, and positive school climate.

YDC personnel work primarily within the school setting on moment-to-moment student social/emotional/behavioral issues whereas a Family School Liaison Counselor deals with more in-depth, systemic issues that may, for example, be handled through outside agencies.
