Moodle

http://moodle.fsd38.ab.ca

Moodle is a complete Learning Management System similar to WebCT or Blackboard. It can host both resources (handouts, PowerPoint presentations, class websites, etc.) and interactive activities such as wikis (group editable websites), blogs, interactive assessments, discussion forums, interactive glossaries and more.

Moodle enables students to collaborate without having to be in the same space at the same time. Students can discuss, create, and present large scale projects in a secure environment.

Learning Toolkit - EPEARL

http://epearl.fsd38.ab.ca

EPEARL is an electronic portfolio system designed by the Center for the Study of Learning and Performance at Concordia University. It guides students through a process of reflection and goal setting to create a powerful electronic portfolio. Reflections can be attached as text or spoken into the built-in voice recorder.

EPEARL is an excellent way for students to track their own learning and progress towards self set goals. It can be customized to any grade level or subject. Student led conferences can be enhanced by having students present and discuss their portfolios.

Learning Toolkit - Abracadabra

http://epearl.fsd38.ab.ca

Abracadabra is a research supported, guided literacy tool for primary students that interfaces directly with EPEARL. Students can read, interact with or listen to age-appropriate stories. The software supports struggling readers by leading them through a variety of strategies.

Linked with an EPEARL electronic portfolio, Abracadabra can track and support primary students as they develop literacy skills.

Video Conferencing and Smart Bridgit

http://bridgit.fsd38.ab.ca

Videoconferencing: Enables classrooms to make face-to-face connections with other classrooms inside or outside the province.

Smart Bridgit: Lets students in multiple locations share the same computer screen.

Together with Moodle, these tools can enable both real time (synchronous) and any time (asynchronous) collaboration between students in multiple locations. Students can collaborate on issues from differing local perspectives.

LearnAlberta

http://www.learnalberta.ca

LearnAlberta is Alberta Education's premier site for licensed educational resources. It includes videos, interactive learning objects, reference tools and more. Resources are linked directly from the provincial curricula making them easy to align when designing instruction.

Link directly to LearnAlberta resources through your Moodle classroom. Using these combined resources, students can complete virtual labs, respond to or discuss a video clip or build a wiki linking to resources of their own.

Tools4Teachers

http://www.tools4teachers.ab.ca

Tools4Teachers is a repository of the Distance Learning Resources available through the Distance and Distributed Learning branches of Alberta Education. These resources are also linked through LearnAlberta.

Teachers can download and adapt aligned assessment items and instructional resources for use in the classroom.
