Student Transportation Expectations

school-bus-topThe Division operates a Student Transportation service for its resident students, taking into consideration student's educational needs and safety, system efficiency, financial accountability, and provincial legislation.

Transportation service is provided to a student's Attendance Area School or the school to which they have been directed by the Division.

Transportation service may made available to non-resident students or students attending a Foothills School outside their Attendance Boundary.  The Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for the administration of this policy and will consider each request on an individual basis.

Policy E-410 STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The Driver is fully in charge of the bus at all time.  Pupils are expected to obey the driver promptly and respectfully.
  2. When entering or leaving the bus, pupils must observe direction provided by the bus Driver or Supervisor.
  3. Classroom conduct is to be observed.   Quiet conversation with immediate seat-mates will be allowed.
  4. Students will remain seated, facing the front of the bus at all times.
  5. Smoking, lighting matches or lighters, is strictly prohibited.
  6. The use of, or being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol while on the bus is strictly prohibited.
  7. Pupils will not, under any circumstance, leave their seat while the bus is in motion.
  8. Pupils will not throw paper or other rubbish on the floor of the bus or out of bus windows. Eating on the bus is prohibited, unless specific permission is obtained from the Driver.
  9. Pupils will not extend head, arms or any body parts out of bus windows.
  10. The use of profane or abusive language is strictly prohibited.  Bullying will not be tolerated.
