Jeannine Tucker
403-969-3951 - tuckertreats@gmail.com
Hello my name is Jeannine Tucker, I am seeking re-election in Ward 1 as Trustee with the Foothills School division.  I have deep roots with Foothills as I graduated here, worked here as an educational assistant, and I am proud to say that my children graduated from the same division that both my husband and I graduated from.  I have lived in Black Diamond for 20 years and have been the Trustee for ward 1 for the last 4 years.  It has been my pleasure to serve the parents and students of Turner Valley, Black Diamond, Longview, and the MD, to have been a strong voice for them but also for public education.  I have worked hard to become a great governor, knowing that we set the direction through good policy development and accountability, and that by setting high standards, our students achieve more.  I look forward to the opportunity to serve again.

Ward 2

Jaimie Chouhan
403-938-4543 - jaimiediamond@gmail.com
I own a small cattle operation with my husband in the MD of Foothills . This was originally my grandparents and I am a fifth generation resident of this Ward and attended school in the Foothills School Division at Percy Peglar Elementary School, Okotoks Junior High School and Foothills Composite High School. My husband has truly made our family multicultural so I not only understand the history of our district but also its diversity. We have a young son. I attended 4H for many years and achieved my Platinum award. Today I enjoy being able to give back by help judging 4H public speaking. I have also attended Pony Club and today I instruct at Pony Club branch in our district. I worked as an administrative assistant and payroll clerk for the Southern Alberta district of a Security company. I did work for a large cattle operation helping with calving and herd health before becoming a mother. Today I teach riding lessons as well as helping with our livestock and being a stay at home mother.

Martha Klassen
403-652-1652 - jandmk@xplornet.cawww.facebook.com/KlassenforFSDtrustee
Martha Klassen is happy to call the MD of Foothills home.  She has lived just west of High River with her husband, two sons, three rescue dogs and, of course, a cat, for 16 years. She is a committed, dependable volunteer in the community and in her children's school, gladly acting as Treasurer for school councils for numerous years.  She quite enjoys being recognized with a smile by the many students and she has gotten to know as "Aaron or Adam's mom" through the years. Martha is a proven advocate for inclusion, for education, for special needs and for families.  She asks the hard questions, listens intently and always searches for the win/win in all situations.  She has the ability to connect a room so everyone is working collaboratively to achieve the most success.  Her belief that all kids should get the support they need has given her a vast understanding of how the education system works and where improvements need to be made. When she's working, she's running her successful accounting business from home with the same finesse as she handles the rest of her life. Her passion for education and supporting students is her reason for running as School Board Trustee.  She gives kids a voice.

Vivienne Nicol
403-652-3993 - vivienne@xplornet.com

I moved from Edmonton with my husband, Doug Lord and our three children to our acreage on Gladys Ridge east of Aldersyde in 1996. The children attended the Foothills Composite High School which gave them a solid basis for University and beyond. Throughout my career as an Architectural Designer, my professional and community activities reflect my interest in Education. As a university  Lecturer, Public School Board educator and TV Broadcaster I reached out to adults and teens.  My commitment grew as a contributor to curriculum development and planning with Alberta Education and Strathcona County Public and Separate Schools. For over 20 years, I instructed horse riding skills to children of all ages and more recently to Special Needs students with the Foothills Therapeutic Riding Association. For several years I have taught line dancing at our home, and in Okotoks and am a member of the Big Rock Singers community choir.  I understand the differing needs of learners living in both rural and urban contexts and appreciate the value of small town schools. As a Grandmother, I am more certain than ever that our children's education provides the foundation for their happiness, fulfillment and success in life. An education that encourages them to achieve and flourish in whatever direction they choose to pursue, spells success for them and our nation as a whole. As a Trustee I want to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of our Public school system here in the MD of Foothills.

Yvonne Sherman
403-461-7666 - yvon.354@hotmail.com
I have lived on a small farm in the rural Foothills north of Blackie for the past 9 1/2 years. My husband and I have two children who attend Blackie School.  I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and worked for the Calgary Board of Education for 3 years. I am actively involved at my children's school with volunteering, attending school council meetings and help coordinate and run the hot lunch program. I believe this has provided me with the relevant skills and background to be the right candidate for the ward 2 school board trustee.  I will be the voice of the parents, students, and the greater community within the school board.

William Young
403-601-7667 - youngw1962@outlook.com
Married to Karyle with two daughters Natasha married to Reid with three grandchildren Austin who attends Highwood, Keiran who attends Cayley, and Jenna who attends Joe Clark. Amanda is my other daughter who works for British Columbia Hydro and enjoys sailing with her best friend Roger. Bill has been in the Cayley region since 1962, living on the family farm and raising Purebred Shorthorn cattle. Growing up attended Cayley school and Senator Riley, completed his Education Degree at the University of Calgary. Gained employment with Foothills School Division in fall of 1981 and taught at Senator Riley till 1996, then moved over to Highwood High School and remained there till I retired in the spring 2016. Coached High school football and free style wrestling for 25 years, and the last 8 years coached girls rugby at Highwood. In 2016 was inducted into the Alberta Schools Athletic Association “ Wall of Fame”. Taught Social Studies and Law during my teacher career, worked for Alberta Learning as a marker of diploma exams. Political Platform: To talk to people and find  out their needs for education, then address these needs with the school board. People have the real power during an election, as the voters hire and fire people. So many politicians get elected then run with their agenda, then need to be the “Voice of the People”! Education is reason why society changes.

I am the proud mother of 3 young adults who has recently celebrated 25 years marriage to Daryl. We’ve had 2 of our 3 children enrolled at Elementary, Jr. High or High School in Okotoks during our time here. The 2 oldest have now moved on, pursuing post secondary and our youngest currently attends High School. I have participated in many aspects of School Council in the places we’ve lived while our kids were growing up. In Okotoks however, I have dedicated my time more fully to School Council interests and have held the position of School Council Chair at both École Okotoks Jr. High and École Foothills Composite High School/ Alberta High School of Fine Arts. I am currently serving as Chair of the Council of School Councils for the Foothills School Division. Otherwise, my time has been invested in volunteering, plus employment in recent Federal Elections, Provincial Election and Federal Census. I currently am employed part time at a local retail establishment in Okotoks. Previously, I have owned and successfully operated both home based and seasonal businesses. I am a Journeyman Beautician, advocate for kids in trades and technology and am so excited for the opportunities FSD students have to achieve success due to excellent facilities and the innovative programming and enrichment offered by our schools.

Claire Comtois
403-921-1595 - comtoisnhs@hotmail.com - www.ccfortrustee.com - www.facebook.com/ccfortrustee

I am the lucky mother of two daughters and a son. Two of them graduated already from École Secondaire Composite High and Alberta Foothills High School of Fine Arts (French immersion). My youngest daughter will be completing Junior High at Westmount School this year. Before starting a family, my passion for biology and the human development led me to complete my diplomas in sciences and nursing (RN). I worked at Hôtel-Dieu of Montreal Hospital where I eventually specialized in intensive care at the burn unit. I had the privilege to be a stay at home mom for several years during which time I volunteered in different capacities at the schools that my kids were attending. I started in King County, Washington, then in Calgary and continued to get involved in the classroom, parent council, and several committees here in Okotoks since 2008. Thanks to the Setting the Direction for Special Education and the Inspiring Education initiatives, I participated to the several public consultations that took place across Alberta (2008-2010). I appreciated the chance to share my input and, most importantly, to listen to the different stakeholders’ perspectives. When a change in circumstances brought me back into the work force, I became a school bus driver and, most recently, an Educational Assistant in the early French immersion program for 4 years. I truly enjoyed the team spirit and being part of the kids’ learning journey. Looking forward to meeting you!
