Teachers' Convention

The Palliser Teachers’ Convention is fast approaching; it is the Foothills School Division annual forum to showcase the expertise of our incredible staff, and disseminate that knowledge throughout the FSD family. Our teachers and instructional leaders are leading sessions and workshops that target grades from Kindergarten through High School, and focus on a wide range of topics from building your own 3-string guitar to designing learning that incorporates Harvard’s Project Zero Thinking Routines.
The main goal of the convention is to support administrators and teachers in implementing evidence-based/research-driven best practices, and build effective partnerships with the community by cultivating and modelling respect, professional learning, and ethical leadership, ultimately leading to the advancement of students’ learning. At FSD, we believe in the importance of facilitating change by offering a continuum of supports for students, parents and staff, by critically examining our practices, and by asking questions and facilitating conversations, thus ensuring that we remain on the path of continuous improvement, and that our students are experiencing success in literacy and numeracy, and all aspects of learning.
We have an array of exciting presentations and workshops at the Palliser Teachers’ Convention, like how to incorporate Nature Based Teaching in and outside of the classroom, how to include aesthetics, lighting and furniture to add life to any classroom, and many more. As a teacher, parent, or student, if any of the sessions pique your interest, reach out and connect with the presenter(s). They would be happy to share their expertise with you.
