Celebration - 2019/20 Retirees

Although we cannot ‘be’ together for our annual Milestones event this does not mean we can not celebrate together.
We want to publicly honour those employees who are retiring from FSD this year and acknowledge the profound and lasting impact their collective efforts have on the lives of our students. Please join Foothills School Division and the Milestones Committee representing ATA Local 16 and CUPE 5040 in sharing our gratitude for the following employees retiring this year:
Joy Marilyn Belmore, Red Deer Lake School
It has been a privilege and an honour to work for Foothills School Division both at Spitzee and Red Deer Lake over the span of almost 30 years. I've said to many people that I never had a day that I didn't want to go to work as I truly enjoyed the people I worked with and the work itself brought new experiences every day. Covid 19 has certainly changed the way I foresaw retirement but the days are still rich and fulfilling and I look forward to filling them with new and wonderful experiences as we move on.
Marijke Brummelhuis, Division Office
I am excited about my upcoming retirement and want to thank Foothills School Division for the variety of work opportunities I have experienced over the last 30 years. My husband and I are looking forward to new adventures, spending lots more time with our grandchildren and mostly staying happy and healthy.
Bobbie Deno, Ecole Highwood High School
“How lucky I am to have had something that makes saying goodbye so hard” A.A. Milne
Highwood and FSD 38 have been a very real sort of “home” for me having started my teaching here, and now finishing it too….how lucky am I ?!!?! I truly feel so blessed to have had the chance to work with such dedicated, awesome people, to learn from you, and build heart connected friendships. You are all so amazing in who you are, and what you do for the kids!!! I may not be in the building, or division, but I am not far, and still here for any of you that need a chat, a hug, some mindfulness, a cheerleader…..art advice, Peace and hugs! Bobbie
Joanne Higgins, Heritage Heights School
It has been a privilege to be part of the Heritage Heights team, FAA team, and FSD team. Joanne has been a trusted voice among her Foothills School Division School Leadership colleagues. She willingly shared her experience and insight with Principals, Vice-Principals, and aspiring leaders who sought her out for advice, mentorship, and collaboration.
Kim Elaine Hodder, Westmount School
I am looking forward to traveling throughout the world and spending more time with my 3 grandchildren. A career highlight for me is all of the wonderful students that I have met over the years and all of the great teachers that I have had the pleasure working with. I look forward to staying in touch with my Foothills family.
Dorothy Horvath, Ecole Percy Pegler School
After working with children for 30 years I realize that I have learned as much from them as they did from me. Seeing through their eyes is a blessing.
I hope to do a little traveling and will enjoy that I do not have to get up to an alarm
Jerry Jones, Maintenance
I have enjoyed all the smiles and greetings, the handshakes and hugs and most of all, the thank "yous" from staff and students. I will remember and cherish those memories always. I look forward to spending time with my wife, Sherry and my children and grandchildren. Thank you for the opportunity to work for Foothills School Division.
Darcy Koberinski, Spitzee School
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with amazing staff, wonderful students and families.

Fay Mascher, Cayley School
It has been an absolute honour to be part of the FSD community and the Cayley School family. It is hard to leave, but I take with me enduring friendships and a sense of a job well done.
James McFarlane, Big Rock School / Millarville Community School / Turner Valley School
I am grateful for 28 years of learning together with many FSD staff, students and families doing the right thing, at the right time for the right reason ... Unforgettable memories. Truly!

I am grateful for the years I worked for FSD 38. I made some really great friends through work. I am looking forward to continuing spanish lessons and spending time with friends and family. When Covid is over we will definitely be doing some travelling.
Paul Arnold Sheppard, Transportation
Twelve years with FSD38 is a large part of 28 in bussing. Thanks Virginia, Wanda, Sandy , and many others at Aldersyde shop, for many kindnesses. Great Leaders! Health issues and many trips to Ukraine as a history prof required lots of spares. Thanks all ! You’re great!
Elaine Robertson, Ecole Secondaire Foothills Composite High School
I feel fortunate to have worked with such an amazing supportive staff over the last 22 years. It has been extremely rewarding to celebrate the successes of such a diverse array of students during my career with FSD. I look forward to spending more time with my family, travelling and exploring with our new RV. Happy Trails!
Fred Woods, Blackie School
My FSD connections will be ones that I will cherish forever. Leadership has always been a calling and I have loved being an integral part of people’s growth journey. During my time in FSD I was able to put my passion into everything that I did by creating something new & making it appealing, by working hard & playing hard and of course, always having fun!
We wish all of the above employees a full and healthy retirement and once again thank-you for your commitment and dedication to supporting students and staff in Foothills School Division. Foothills School Division looks forward to bring all of our staff together at a date to be determined in the 2020/2021 school year for a re-scheduled Milestones event.
