Kindergarten is one of the most exciting times in a child’s life. Ensuring each child makes a successful transition from home to school is a goal for parents and teachers.
- Children who turn five years of age on or before December 31, 2019 will be eligible to enter Kindergarten in September 2019.
- Children who turn four years of age on or before December 31, 2019 will be eligible to enter Junior Kindergarten in September 2019.
You may register your child by visiting your local elementary school (School Boundary Maps). A registration form must be filled out for each student even if siblings are attending the same school. You will be required to provide your child’s Birth Certificate (or proof of citizenship), Immunization Records, and Proof of Address.
Be advised an attendance boundary review is underway for all Okotoks and DeWinton area elementary and junior high schools. We anticipate changes will be made to our existing boundaries as we prepare to open Meadow Ridge School in September of 2019. We are currently unable to confirm which school location your child will attend for the 2019-2020 school year. Families will be notified of their designated kindergarten location when boundaries are finalized in the spring of 2019. To provide your feedback and review the latest information on our boundaries visit our boundary review webpage.

- Early Literacy
- Early Numeracy
- Citizenship and Identity
- Environment and Community Awareness
- Personal and Social Responsibility
- Physical Skills and Well-being
- Creative Expression
The purpose of Kindergarten is to provide learning experiences that are developmentally appropriate in order to meet the diverse needs of children and to promote a positive attitude towards lifelong learning. Learn more about Early Learning in Foothills School Division by visiting:
