Foothills Composite HS Construction
UPDATE: Tuesday March 21, 2017 - 2:00pm.
Foothills School Division (FSD) would like to inform students, parents, and staff that our third party independent consultant has completed a safety review of École Secondaire Foothills Composite High School.
We have determined that a separate safety officer, reporting to FSD, will be on-site when students are present. This will help ensure that existing safety policies and procedures are being followed at all times.
Upon review Jen-Col (General Contractor) has also determined that there will be a new roofing contractor retained immediately through to the completion of the project.
As always, safety is our utmost concern. Construction activity will commence Wednesday March 22, 2017 following a meeting with our safety officer and modernization partners.
We thank you for your patience as we continue to work together in maintaining a safe learning environment in our schools.
UPDATE: Friday March 10, 2017 – 2:50pm.
Foothills School Division (FSD) is dedicated to maintaining a strong partnership with parents and staff in our effort to provide the very best education for students. Key to that partnership is open communication. For this reason, we want to provide an update on the construction related safety investigation occurring at the Foothills Composite High School.
FSD, Group 2 (our architect and prime consultant), along with Jen-Col (our prime contractor) have met for a preliminary review of the gas leak incident. During this meeting it was jointly agreed that a safety consultant (an independent third party) would be brought on site commencing Monday March 13 to do a thorough review of the safety procedures and processes currently in place. This review will inform us moving forward and give us the information we need to proceed with confidence.
As always, the safety of students is our utmost concern. Construction activity will remain suspended until the investigation is completed and we are satisfied that all construction related safety plans are in place and being enforced.
Students, parents, and staff will be notified through an automated message when more information becomes available. We thank you for your patience as we continue to work in partnership with you to maintain a safe learning environment in our schools.

Our students and staff behaved admirably, which made it possible for us to do our jobs efficiently, for us to re-enter the building calmly, and for us to resume the teaching and learning for which we are here today. Please commend your child for their excellent behavior.
