New Principal - Ecole Joe Clark School
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Sarah Clark as the new Principal of École Joe Clark School (ÉJCS) effective August 2018.
Sarah joined Foothills School Division in the fall of 2012 as the Vice Principal of École Joe Clark School, and in 2014 moved into the role of Divisional Principal responsible for Alternative Programming. Prior to joining the Foothills Family, she worked at Christ the Redeemer School Division with over ten years of experience as a teacher and leader in a variety of settings. She has presented information around those who speak English as well as an additional language, for the Calgary Regional Consortium, the University of Calgary, Kings University, the Language Research Centre, and other school jurisdictions.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology as well as a Bachelor of Education from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick and Masters of Education in Language and Diversity/Second Language Teaching from the University of Calgary.
As an innovative and energetic leader who puts student learning at the front of all school based decisions and actions, Sarah knows that a strong school is based upon the strengths of the whole school community. She works to nurture existing strengths of those around her including staff and parents as partners in learning. Sarah shares her approach, “Know the people! I work to develop trusting relationships with students, staff and parents. When there is trust and people are supported in bringing their strengths forward our students will be highly successful!” Additionally, Sarah believes in the principle of “Think Big. Start Small” and she knows a good leader gives all in the school community a voice in creating success.
Assistant Superintendent Allen Davidson says, “The leadership strengths Sarah carries from her work as District Principal back into École Joe Clark School very much compliment the work the existing leadership team has established with the dedicated staff at ÉJCS. Her deep background in Literacy, French Immersion, and English Language Learning were key aspects staff and community representatives identified in the Leadership Profile developed for this position. We are excited about the transition opportunity we have this Spring as Sarah and existing Principal Marsi Quarin-Wright collaborate to ensure ÉJCS continues to be a great place for students to learn”
Sarah looks forward to applying her educational and practical experience in her new leadership role within Foothills.
