Director of Staff Learning Announcement

Foothills School Division is pleased to announce Cynthia Glaicar as Director of Staff Learning starting August 29, 2018. Please join us in congratulating her as she embraces this exciting new role, where as Director she will work collaboratively with the FSD Learning Services Team.
Cynthia holds a Master of Educational Leadership, from Gonzaga University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts from York University.
This will be Cynthia’s third administrative position within Foothills School Division and her first divisional position. Cynthia began her teaching career with the Peel District Board of Education and joined FSD in 2001 quickly making connections within the Foothills Learning Community. At the start of the 2005 school year she became a Vice Principal at Oilfields High School and in 2012 she became the inaugural Principal of Westmount School. In that role she successfully cultivated and lead a Vision for student learning where all staff contribute to engaged student learning opportunities designed around competencies, interdisciplinary learning and deep thinking strategies.
Cynthia’s leadership capacity and experiences align well with the Director of Staff Learning leadership profile. Cynthia shares the following in regards to her leadership philosophy “As a leader, I consistently encourage team members to contribute perspectives, skills, and knowledge to our learning culture and learning teams. I respect the experiences and views of others as we collaborate together to learn.”
Assistant Superintendent Allen Davidson offers that “Cynthia is an innovative and inclusive leader who will support all staff in our division in their growth and development in ensuring high levels of learning and deep understanding for our students. We know staff across the division will be well served by her work on our Learning Services team”
