Westmount School Announcement
Foothills School Division is pleased to announce Mr. Jordan Rhodes as the next Principal of Westmount School in Okotoks effective August 28, 2018.
Mr. Rhodes holds both a Bachelor of Political Science and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Lethbridge. In 2011, Jordan completed his Masters of Education (Leadership & School Administration) degree from the University of Gonzaga.
Jordan began his teaching career with Foothills School Division at École Secondaire Highwood High School teaching grades 9 – 12. While at Highwood he moved into the instructional leadership role of Instructional Coach in 2007. In 2010, Jordan joined the leadership team at École Foothills Composite High School/ Alberta High School of Fine Arts as a Vice-Principal where he has continued to develop his instructional leadership within a shared leadership team.
As a leader Jordan cultivates conditions where optimal learning and quality teaching can occur by ensuring students are at the center of decision making, listening deeply to all stakeholders, and supporting teachers and support staff in a growth oriented environment. He strives to develop strong relationships and mutual trust and shares that “Learning cannot happen without relationships. Meeting students where they are at, creating a safe environment for them, and challenging them with relevant, personalized work will always pay dividends.”
Assistant Superintendent Allen Davidson offers that “Jordan will be an incredible advocate for all students, families and staff as Principal of Westmount School. He understands deeply the conditions that allow students to be successful in an engaged learning environment. He empowers members of teams to bring their strengths forward in a shared leadership environment.”
